Glorious morning for community volunteers cleaning up the Tullamore River and Grand Canal supported by Clean Coasts - volunteers from Tullamore Tidy Towns, Offaly Climate and Biodiversity Action Group, local anglers and Junior Tidy Towns. Volunteers took part in a long over due cleanup of a blackspot at the Bridge House / Bridge St on the Tullamore River. Over 15 bags of  glass, pint glasses, plastic glasses, bottles, discarded litter and cigarette butt's retrieved from such a small area at the bridge in the Town Centre. Great start to an ongoing Tullamore River awareness and cleanup project by Tidy Towns, collaborating with local community groups. A crew also focussed on the Bury Quay area of the Grand Canal with long pickers to cleanup discarded bottles, cans and litter from Kilbeggan Bridge to Coxs Bridge. Volunteers were treated to a well earned breakfast on the bank of the canal after their hard work. Special thanks to all our volunteers.
