Tullamore River Clean Up 2026 - Tullamore Tidy Towns were joined by the Offaly Search and Recovery team along with volunteers from the Tullamore & District Angling Club to clear the river of traffic cones, shopping trollies, bicycles, an ironing board, pipes, cable, plastic, bottles, cans, pint glasses, saucepans and general litter. At the same time it is great to see the improved water quality and glad to say we are getting on top of the litter after continuous years of tackling sections at a time - soon we might be in a position to move on to enhancing the river bank. This evening another sweep along the bottom of the park, Millennium Bridge and down past the back of TOM’s Artisan Bakery & Café /Bridge Shopping Centre. While the Offaly Search and Recovery team were geared up and waded through the river with a rib, members of Tullamore and District Angling Club and Tidy Towns volunteers used long and short litter pickers to clean the banks and to help when needed to pull out the larger dumped material which was collected by Offaly County Council. Thank you very much to all that took part.

Tidy Towns continue their voluntary programme each Wednesday from 7pm meeting at Kilbride Plaza and Sunday morning from 8.30am meeting on William Street. Please join us - we need your help.
